This unique, museum–like gallery features many of the most notable painters, sculptors and printmakers of the mid-late 20th century from South and Central America as well as Mexico. Many of these artists have attained international fame and are recognized among the most important and collectible artists of the modern era. Much of their work is often a synthesis of European, American and Latin American influences. Artists in this educational, multi-cultural display include Alejandro Aróstequi, Armando Morales, Elmar Rojas, Carlos Mérida, Benjamin Cañas, Roberto Matta, Ignacio Iturria, Francisco Toledo, Francisco Zuiñiga, Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Leonora Carrington and other famed artists.
Meet the gallery curator/director, Suzanne Brooks Snider, who will sign copies of her landmark book Central American Modernism / Modernismo en Centroamérica on Saturday April 6th, 1-2pm at the Pavilion.
